Old Misgivings

Look no further for an issue that is emblematic of the 1980s. You have reported it in your “San Diego At Large” by Anthony Perry (April 13).

It is well known that the rich have gotten richer during the past decade, in part due to an unprecedented transference of wealth from the young to the old. It appears that some folks in Rancho Santa Fe are not content with what they have and are now intent on taking things away from their own children who, presumably, are “bringing more noise, traffic and litter” into the neighborhood by using a local open space area as a ball field.

What a pity. On the other hand, maybe if they “devour their young” a new species will emerge in their place.
