VENTURA : Council Allocates $805,000 for Wells
The Ventura City Council, moving to alleviate the city’s water shortage, approved funds Monday to increase the capacity of some of its wells and to continue construction of another.
The council voted unanimously and without comment to allocate $805,000 toward installing two deep-well pumps and other improvements at the Golf Course Wells near the Buenaventura Golf course. The improvements will increase the wells’ pumping capacity by 2 million gallons a day, Public Works director Shelley Jones said.
The council also voted unanimously to spend $25,000 on construction of a well in Saticoy. The city had already invested $14,500 in this project, and about $60,000 more will be needed to complete the project, Jones said.
The funds for both projects will come from the city’s capital improvement fund, he said.
