Prayers, personal memorabilia, photographs and music will be offered as reminders of the Holocaust during two weeks of remembrance offered by the Jewish Community Centers of San Diego County.

This year’s commemoration of the execution of 6 million Jews during World War II calls for “remembering the voices that were silenced,” spokeswoman Mollie Harris said.

The series of events planned through May 10 includes a talk today by Albert Hutler, who was a U.S. Army lieutenant stationed in postwar Germany in 1945. Hutler, the author of the newly released book “The Agony of Survival” participated in the care and repatriation of displaced survivors, Harris said.

Hutler will speak at the College Area Branch, 4079 54th St., at 7:30 p.m. There is no charge for center members, a $2 fee for non-members. Hutler will also speak May 10 at the M. Larry Lawrence Center, 4126 Executive Drive, in La Jolla.

The College Area Branch series will continue Wednesday with a free oral history film at 7:30 p.m. presented by the children of survivors, a free talk on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. about a refugee shelter established in Oswego, N.Y., during World War II, and a docudrama on Friday at 1 p.m. on the life of Simon Wiesenthal, who made tracing Nazi criminals his life’s work.

An exhibit of photographs and personal memorabilia of Holocaust refugees will be on display at the center through May 6. Hours are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Thursday, noon to 3 p.m. on Friday and noon to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
