Showers, lower temperatures and gusty winds will blow through San Diego today, pushed along by a weak weather front, according to the National Weather Service.

The front, which moved into the county Monday night from Northern California, probably will produce less than a quarter of an inch of rain because it is moving over land rather than the ocean, said forecaster Ray Robben. “It is really peanuts,” he said.

The mercury will be a little lower, with highs in the mid to upper 60s and nighttime lows in the mid to upper 50s, Robben said.

Winds in the desert and mountain areas could gust as high as 35 m.p.h. and up to 30 m.p.h. in the coastal areas and inland valleys.

The front will move out of the county by late today en route to Nevada, Robben said. An onshore airflow is expected to keep nights and mornings cloudy through the rest of the week, but sunshine will break through in the afternoons in the inland areas. Coastal skies may remain cloudy for the rest of the week.

Skies at the beach will be cloudy and windy through Wednesday with highs of 59 to 65 degrees, Robben said. The ocean temperature is 62 degrees with surf of 4 to 6 feet.

Winds in the coastal strip and inland valleys are expected to gust up to 25 m.p.h. today. Temperatures today and Wednesday will range from 65 to 70. Nighttime lows in the coastal areas will dip to 54 to 61, 48 to 54 degrees in the inland areas, Robben said.

Winds in the mountain areas will blow at 20 to 30 m.p.h., with occasional gusts of 35 m.p.h., according to the forecast. Daytime temperatures ranging from 53 to 63, with lows of 35 to 45, are predicted.

Desert winds gusting from 20 to 30 m.p.h. with occasional 35 m.p.h. winds are forecast. Daytime highs are expected to rise to 75 to 82 degrees, falling to 55 to 63 at night.
