WORLD IN BRIEF : SUDAN : Junta Puts Down 2nd Coup Attempt

For the second time in a month, Sudan’s military government crushed a revolt by junior army officers. The country’s military leader, Lt. Gen. Omar Hassan Bashir, said in a broadcast on government radio that loyalist forces arrested the rebels and maintained control of the East African nation. He did not give casualty figures or the number of arrests.
