New York’s Worst Cabbie Gets 1-Way Order: ‘Go Home’
The Big Apple’s worst cab driver is being deported to his native Turkey, not for his driving record but for concealing a drug arrest, the Immigration and Naturalization Service said Friday.
Vehbi Gunduz, 34, lost his license last month after racking up an incredible record including reckless driving, bullying and overcharging passengers--and even throwing luggage into the street when his fare insisted he follow directions.
In less than five years of driving, Gunduz was hit with 88 summonses and 199 violations.
Immigration spokesman Charles Troy said Gunduz’s driving record had nothing to do with his impending deportation, which officials have been trying to accomplish for almost five years. “It’s just a coincidence,” he said.
