Seabrook Nuclear Plant Shut Down for Alterations

SEABROOK, N.H. —
Seabrook nuclear power plant officials on Saturday ordered the reactor shut down for four to six weeks of modifications, shortly before the long-delayed plant was to produce its first commercial electricity.
Seabrook officials decided that electrical feedback from the New England power grid could cause a section of the plant’s turbine to vibrate beyond specifications, plant spokesman David Scanzoni said.
He said the problem did not involve the reactor.
