Leaks in the hull of the capsized Princess Louise will have to be patched before the former cruise ship can be towed offshore and sunk, a process expected to take at least a week, state officials said today.
The unexpected development, in which holes in the ship will have to be patched before it can be towed from Los Angeles Harbor and sunk in 90 feet of water, was announced by Kim McKee, a marine biologist working on the project.
She said the work is expected to delay the towing, originally scheduled for today or Friday, for one to two weeks.
