Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Colombians Plead Guilty in Drug Case

The reputed No. 3 man in Colombia’s Cali drug cartel and an associate pleaded guilty to federal drug charges two weeks into their trial in Miami. Their lawyer had concluded the government had “an unbeatable case.” The charges they pleaded guilty to carry a minimum term of 10 years and a maximum of life imprisonment. The government agreed to drop the most serious count, operating a continuing criminal enterprise, which carries a mandatory life prison sentence.
