P. M. BRIEFING : Poles Fire Oil Chief in Shortages

WARSAW —
Poland’s Ministry of Industry has dismissed the director of the state-run oil monopoly, blaming him for a disruption in supplies that has led to long lines at gasoline stations, a ministry spokesman said today.
Jerzy Szewczyk was fired from his post as director of the Central Oil Co. for failing to predict a need to increase crude oil imports, said the spokesman, Jan Golab.
