LAS VEGAS — UNLV has been presented with a $35,000 Waterford crystal trophy and a $20,000 scholarship in recognition of winning the national men’s basketball championship last month.
The trophy is a crystal replica of a basketball on a pedestal.
The awards are given annually to the nation’s top men’s basketball team.
The trophy will be on display at UNLV for 30 days, after which it will be enshrined in the Basketball Hall of Fame in Springfield, Mass.
A second trophy, which is being made in Ireland, will be sent to UNLV for permanent display.
The Rebels beat Duke 103-73 to win the national title.
