Concorde Makers Reach Agreement: The British and French aircraft makers that built the controversial supersonic Concorde 20 years ago agreed, as expected, to study and design a “son of Concorde” that will carry twice as many passengers and travel twice as far. Aerospatiale, France’s largest commercial aviation concern, said it and British Aerospace would study plans for a supersonic plane to succeed the Concorde. Henri Martre, chairman of the French company, said the plane would carry 200 passengers 7,500 miles. The plane will not enter service until the next century.
