WORLD IN BRIEF : LIBYA : Kadafi Accused of Africa Intervention

Libyan leader Moammar Kadafi has resumed efforts to destabilize parts of Africa by training and financing rebels in Liberia and renewing his intervention in Chad, a senior State Department official said. Libya had trained the core of the Liberian rebel force before it launched an invasion in December, the official said. The United States had previously accused Libya of financing the rebels, but this was the first time it has alleged that Tripoli trained them as well.
