Baltimore Beats Kansas City, 6-4, in East Opener

Billy Ronson scored one goal and assisted on two others as the Baltimore Blast defeated the Kansas City Comets, 6-4, in the opening game of the MISL Eastern Division finals Friday.

Goalkeeper Scott Manning made 13 saves as the Blast took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven playoff series that continues Sunday night in Baltimore.

With the score tied, 2-2, early in the second period, Baltimore got goals from Freddie Thompson, Mark Mettrick and Ronson to take a 5-2 lead.

Kansas City’s Greg Ion and Jan Goossens teamed on a pair of goals to cut the lead to 5-4 midway through the third quarter, but Domenic Mobilio scored on a power play early in the fourth period to give the Blast a two-goal cushion.
