A human rights report said 159 Arab children under age 16 were killed and as many as 63,000 wounded by bullets, beatings and tear gas during the first two years of a Palestinian uprising against Israeli rule. The study, by the Swedish Save the Children group, claimed that Israel’s army practiced “calculated cruelty” in some cases. The findings were rejected by the Israeli military and criticized by Israeli human rights activists as one-sided.
