Recruits Demand Raises, Block Ivory Coast Roads

ABIDJAN, Ivory Coast —
Military recruits demanding a pay raise blocked the main road in Ivory Coast’s second largest city Friday in the third such protest this week, a military source said. No immediate action was taken to dislodge the protesters from the road in Bouake, 240 miles north of the principal city of Abidjan.
