A hearing will be held Monday in San Diego Superior Court on a lawsuit filed against San Diego State and its football coach by a former player, Mike Spinello. Spinello, a linebacker from Mission Viejo High, alleges that Coach Al Luginbill reneged in February of 1989 on an unwritten agreement to award him a $2,000 scholarship. Spinello withdrew from the university shortly thereafter.
