Reason and Rhetoric on Flag Burning and Free Speech

The picture on the front page may be one of the problems this country is experiencing, namely allowing the nuts to sway public opinion.

I am a Marine veteran of World War II and Korea. I have two sons, 29 and 38, university graduates who are not going to vote any more. They tell me all our politicians are being paid off so what’s the use?

Recently I attended the 45th anniversary of our flag raising in Washington. I like our flag--I don’t love it, I love my wife and boys. If some nut wants to tear or burn the flag, it hurts me, but I sure as heck would ignore the poor idiot and chalk it up to what it means--a desire to be noticed.
