WESTMINSTER : Trustees OK School Boundary Changes

Share

The school board has approved boundary changes for three schools and has escaped the wrath of parents opposed to the new boundaries by applying them only to incoming pupils.

District Supt. Keith W. Lawson said that sending all new children to H.B. Anderson Elementary School, which is 100 pupils below capacity, will balance enrollment at Iva Meairs and Midway City elementary schools, which are overcrowded.

“We will also try not to split up families,” Lawson said.

Although most of the parents were relieved that the board decided not to uproot their children, they expressed concern that the action is only a temporary solution.

“We can breathe a sigh of relief right now, but we’re probably going to have to be back here next year facing the same problem,” parent Paul Tornbom said.
