NATION : U.S. Had Record Surplus in April

WASHINGTON —
The United States posted a record $42.5-billion budget surplus in April on income tax payments after ringing up a record $53.3-billion deficit in March, the Treasury Department said today.
“A record high in receipts and surplus resulted from increased individual income tax filing,” the Treasury Department said in its monthly statement.
