Icahn May Sell TWA to Employees: TWA Chairman Carl C. Icahn confirmed that he is considering selling the airline to employees, according to a story in the Kansas City Star. The airline’s machinists union has proposed an employee stock ownership plan in which employees would buy stock in the company and perhaps participate in running it, Icahn said in an interview. Icahn’s statement is thought to be the first acknowledgement that he is willing to sell TWA as a whole. The TWA chairman also said he would keep TWA’s overhaul base in Kansas City, where most of its 6,800-area employees work. At this point, only the machinists union has been involved in buyout talks.
