Gay Counseling in Schools Issue

Share

After reading your article on gay student counseling (Times, May 20), I felt compelled to respond.

Schools are established to teach children academics, physical education and creativity. I do not believe a public school should be a place to give homosexual counseling. If a student is truly having difficulty because he or she has homosexual tendencies, perhaps a referral to a counselor may be helpful. If the student has a need, then he or she can call a counselor and make an appointment on his own time.

The public school grounds should not be the place for this sort of thing. Let’s stick to teaching education and hope that the children can at least read when they graduate. Leave the “counseling” in the private sector and out of the schools.
