Chrysler to Pay $2.9 Million in Defense Inquiry: Chrysler Corp. will settle allegations that a subsidiary overcharged the Air Force on more than 100 contracts by paying $2.9 million in penalties and removing top executives of the subsidiary. U.S. Atty. Marvin Collins in Ft. Worth was quoted by the Detroit News as saying the government and the auto maker had resolved a three-year investigation into alleged overcharges by Electrospace Systems Inc. The investigation covered the years from 1980 to 1987, before Chrysler bought the company.
