Region : Information on Housing

Share

Older people can get free information about housing through a new Westside program.

Called the Consumer Housing Information Service for Seniors, or CHISS, the program sends trained volunteers to visit with older people who request help with housing questions.

According to a spokesperson, volunteers are trained to provide accurate, unbiased information on local housing options for homeowners and renters, including information on home repair programs and help with decisions on whether to move or stay in their present homes.

The program is co-sponsored by WISE Senior Services, the Area Agency on Aging of Los Angeles County and the American Assn. of Retired Persons.
