Former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos was reported much improved today after suffering a stomach inflammation that halted her fraud trial when she collapsed in the courtroom and coughed up blood.

Marcos remained at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center, where she was taken by ambulance Thursday. Her condition was diagnosed as erosive gastritis, which is caused when stomach acid erodes the organ’s lining, and was treated with intravenous antacid.
