Associated Press
MOSCOW —
An explosion and subsequent flood in a western Siberia coal mine killed one miner, and 10 others were feared dead, an official said Tuesday.
The accident occurred Sunday morning in the Dimitrov mine near Novokuznetsk in the Kuznetsk Coal Basin, 2,100 miles east of Moscow, said Andrei H. Schmidt, director of the mine shaft.
The body of one miner was found Tuesday under thick mud, Schmidt said in a telephone interview. A search was under way for the others.
