Parrish Named Angel of Week

Lance Parrish, who batted .391 last week and filled in at first base for three games, has been named Angel of the Week by The Times’ Orange County Edition.

The 33-year-old catcher was nine for 23 in seven games with a double, two home runs, five runs scored and four runs batted in.

He improved his batting average to a season-high .292. With Wally Joyner hampered by a sore right knee, Parrish started two games at first base and played most of another game. Parrish hadn’t played first in nearly two years.

A check for $250 in Parrish’s name will be given to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Orange County.
