NATION : Imelda Marcos Returns to Trial
Former Philippines First Lady Imelda Marcos returned to her racketeering trial today, declaring herself healthy after a dramatic courtroom collapse and hospitalization 11 days ago.
“I feel better. I’m all right,” a smiling Marcos told reporters as she emerged from a black van minutes before her trial resumed.
Asked if she would be able to finish the trial, she replied, “I will be well enough.”
During a morning session on May 31, the widow of ousted Philippine President Ferdinand E. Marcos suddenly pitched forward in her chair, her head hitting the table on front of her, and began coughing up blood.
