GARDEN GROVE : City’s Birthday Bash Features ‘50s Theme

The city will celebrate its 34th birthday Saturday with a downtown festival including a pancake breakfast, a 5K run and music.

Garden Grove, founded in 1874, was incorporated in June, 1956.

A pancake breakfast sponsored by the Garden Grove Rotary will be held at 7:30 a.m. at the Village Green Park on Main Street.

At 8:30 a.m., a five-kilometer run and stride event is scheduled on a course that will start at the Village Green. A “Kids Fun Run” will begin at 9:15 a.m.

Proceeds from the event will benefit Garden Grove’s DARE (Drug Abuse Resistance Education) program.

At 9 a.m., the Main Street Festival begins with a 1950s rock-and-roll theme.

The festival and raffles are sponsored by the Main Street Merchants Assn.
