NICOSIA, Cyprus — Saudi Arabia’s King Fahd was quoted Thursday as saying he wants to end disputes between his conservative kingdom and Iran.
“With Iran in particular, we have not rejected the principle of improving the atmosphere with them, but we even (want) to eliminate all causes for the current dispute,” he told the Saudi newspaper Okaz in an interview.
Relations reached a new low after Iran said it would boycott July’s Muslim pilgrimage to Mecca for the third year because of quota restrictions imposed by Saudi Arabia.
