Actor Peter Ustinov and author Kingsley Amis were made knights, and Archbishop of Canterbury Robert A. K. Runcie was awarded a life peerage in honors marking Queen Elizabeth’s official birthday Saturday.

Prominent Hong Kong politician Dame Lydia Dunn and former British Labor Party Cabinet minister Barbara Castle were also made life peers, allowing them to sit in the House of Lords, Britain’s upper chamber of Parliament.

Also awarded a knighthood, which carries the title “Sir,” were British television broadcaster Jimmy Savile, a disc jockey now prominent in charity fund-raising, and New Zealand merchant banker Michael Fay.

Fay was chairman of the New Zealand syndicate for the America’s Cup yachting competition in Perth, Australia, in 1986-87 and this year lost a bitter U.S. court battle with the San Diego Yacht Club over an America’s Cup challenge in 1988.
