Pet Food Trademark: Nutro Products Inc. filed a trademark infringement suit claiming that an Oklahoma-based rival, Cole Grain Co., deliberately chose a similar name for its competing line of super-premium pet food. The suit, filed in Los Angeles Superior Court and similar to one filed earlier in federal court, said Nutro Products of Industry has sold its “Nutro” and “Nutro Max” dog and cat food since 1985. Cole began selling its “Nutrix” in May, 1990. The suit asked for punitive damages and a court order barring further trademark infringements. (Filed June 13, 1990. Case No. BC003249)
