Italy Tosses Out 14 Rowdy British Fans

CAGLIARI, Italy —
Fourteen English soccer fans were handed suspended jail sentences today and ordered to leave Italy after a street fight with riot police.
A court inside Cagliari’s Buoncammino jail gave the fans suspended sentences of up to 4 1/2 months for offenses including resisting police, malicious damage and carrying a knife. The 14 had been held in the jail since their arrest June 8.
