Oryx Energy Makes Oil, Gas Discovery

DALLAS —
Oryx Energy Co. said it made an oil and gas discovery in the Gulf of Mexico that flowed at a combined peak total rate of 11,356 barrels of oil and 9 million cubic feet of gas a day.
Oryx said the well, about 140 miles southeast of New Orleans, is in 1,726 feet of water.
Dallas-based Oryx is an independent energy company with assets of more than $5 billion and proven reserves of more than 1 billion equivalent barrels.
