Recycling Woes Are Just Plain Garbage

Share

Kathi Kennedy’s article on recycling, “The Garbage That Ate Our Lives” (June 11), uses humor to disguise the real problem. Rather than having simply become slaves to absurd and time-consuming recycling efforts, her household’s problem was the failure to reach consensus. The 10 persons obviously did not agree on when “enough was enough” and apparently felt tyrannized by the standards of the most zealous members. My concern is that her humorous depiction of recycling taken to an extreme will only increase the reluctance of those who have yet to begin any recycling at all.
