Scott Tinley, Scott Molina, Paula Newby-Fraser and Erin Baker headline the Mountain Dew Sport San Diego International Triathlon, which begins with a one-kilometer swim at Spanish Landing near Harbor Island at 7 a.m. Sunday.

The swim will be followed by a 30-kilometer bike race up and down the Point Loma Peninsula to the Cabrillo Monument and a 10-kilometer run along Harbor Drive from Spanish landing to Seaport Village.

As many as 1,000 participants are expected. Registration ($45 per person, $75 per relay team) is being held today at Sports Chalet on Midway Drive near the Sports Arena until 5 p.m.

The top male and female finishers will receive $1,500 each, the second-place finishers $1,000 and third-place finishers $750.

BASEBALL

The Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau will conduct a tryout camp for players 16-25 years old June 28 at Southwestern College. Registration is at 8:45 a.m. Participants must bring their own equipment, and American Legion players must have a letter of permission from their coach or company commander.
