Oksana Chusovitina of the Soviet Union won the all-around title in the six-nation U.S. Olympic Cup gymnastics meet Saturday.

The door opened for both the 15-year-old Soviet and for Sandy Woolsey of Tempe, Ariz., when Chusovitina’s teammate, Yulia Kut, tumbled from the beam.

In the floor exercise, Chusovitina scored a 9.95, to edge Woolsey, who had a 9.90, and take the gold by a margin of 39.45-39.40. Kim Kelly of Allentown, Pa., a last-minute replacement on the U.S. team, was a surprising third at 39.05. Kut came in at 38.95.

“I just came in here to try to do my best, try to hit four for four routines,” said the 16-year-old Kelly, who will be a high school senior next fall.
