From Times staff and Wire reports

Belgium said it might free a Palestinian guerrilla from prison if a family of four held hostage in Lebanon is released. Foreign Minister Mark Eyskens said in Brussels that he had recently met with relatives of Emmanuel Houtekins, his wife, Godelieve Kets, and their two teen-age children. He said the relatives are “almost desperate.” The four were seized from a yacht in the Mediterranean in 1987 by a Palestinian group led by Abu Nidal. Nasser Said is serving a life sentence for a 1980 grenade attack in Antwerp that resulted in the death of a child, but he is eligible for parole next month.
