GM Explores Czechoslovakian Venture: General Motors said it is developing plans with Czechoslovakia’s government to build up to 250,000 automobile transmissions a year there for export to GM assembly plants throughout Europe. GM said the transmissions would be destined for its Opel Vauxhall cars and would help satisfy a projected shortage of the components during the next few years. Transmission manufacturing could begin about 18 to 24 months after any agreement is reached.
