WORLD IN BRIEF : LITHUANIA : President, Premier Meet Gorbachev

Lithuania’s president and prime minister hurried to Moscow and met with Soviet President Mikhail S. Gorbachev, then returned to Vilnius. Neither side disclosed the results of the meeting. Lithuania’s legislature is scheduled to debate today a proposal to freeze the Baltic republic’s March 11 declaration of independence. Moscow has called for the freeze to pave the way for secession talks.
