NATION : Fire Delays Dallas Newspaper
An explosion and fire in the basement of the Dallas Times Herald newspaper forced an evacuation of the building and moved the printing of today’s edition to another newspaper’s presses.
One worker was injured, and a woman was treated for smoke inhalation. About 200 people were forced to leave the building because of dense smoke. The fire was out less than an hour after it was reported Wednesday night.
“It was an electrical short in the electrical room,” said Deputy Fire Chief Larry Roberts.
A delayed morning edition of the newspaper was printed at the Ft. Worth Star-Telegram, 35 miles to the west.
