WORLD IN BRIEF : ALGERIA : 5 Officials Dropped in Cabinet Reshuffle

Algerian Prime Minister Mouloud Hamrouche and four of his Cabinet ministers were dropped from the politburo of the ruling National Liberation Front in a reshuffle prompted by its crushing electoral defeat last month. The shake-up capped a three-day meeting of the 268-member central committee of the ruling party after the upset victory by the fundamentalist Islamic Salvation Front in the June 12 elections.
