WORLD IN BRIEF : KENYA : Mandela Criticizes West During Rally

Whites shadowed by a history of colonialism have no right to teach Africans about democracy, Nelson Mandela said during a visit to Kenya, which is under criticism from the West for its response to calls for a multi-party democracy. The comments by the South African anti-apartheid leader at a rally in Nairobi that drew 15,000 people came in the wake of a pro-democracy rally last Saturday that triggered five days of bloody anti-government riots and looting. More than 20 people were killed and 1,000 arrested.
