World IN BRIEF : CUBA : Police Seize Man at Spanish Embassy

A Cuban seeking asylum at the Spanish Embassy in Havana was caught by Cuban security police, who followed him onto the embassy patio, fired shots and dragged him out, eyewitnesses said. Their version was confirmed by Spanish diplomatic sources, who said Spain protested to the Cuban Foreign Ministry about the incident. The witnesses said the man was beaten and kicked while he struggled with his captors. Three Cubans were already sheltered inside the embassy.
