W. R. Grace & Co.: The New York-based chemical company said second-quarter profit totaled $51.3 million, up 16% from the same period a year ago. Sales rose 8% to $1.6 billion. The largest operating unit of the company, Grace Specialty Chemicals Co., posted a 10% after-tax gain in operating income, helped by advances in its packaging operations business and higher sales of high-speed drying equipment used by the printing industry.
