Limiting Sales of Spray Paint to Curb Graffiti
Torres’ ridiculous proposal exemplifies the current philosophy of politicians: No problem is so big or so complex that it can’t be solved by banning something. Too much crime in the streets? Don’t make felons do any hard time, just ban guns! Criminals will obey this law and crime will drop. Legitimate gun owners who protest this brilliant idea obviously refuse to fight crime.
Graffiti a problem? Sen. Torres says “ban spray paint!” Gang members will be paralyzed and the problem will stop. Responsible hobbyists, painters, handymen and do-it-yourselfers who object to the ban clearly don’t care about graffiti.
Got a problem? Don’t fix it--ban it! With ingenious strategies like these coming from our elected officials, is it any wonder why people don’t bother to vote any more?
