Caterpillar Inc.: The Peoria, Ill.-based construction equipment manufacturer reported that its second-quarter earnings plunged 67% to $46 million. Revenue was off 3% to $2.95 billion. Caterpillar said the results reflect lower demand for construction equipment among industrial nations.
