Airlines: UAL Corp., Chicago-based parent of United Airlines, said second-quarter net income rose 5% to $148.3 million, including a $77.3-million gain from the sale of nine aircraft. Revenue advanced 8% to $2.74 billion. Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines said its second-quarter net income fell 61% to $74.1 million. Revenue dipped 3% to $2.24 billion. Delta blamed the drop on competition and rising fuel prices.
