Share

The Miramar Air Show takes off this weekend, and officials are getting ready for the hundreds of thousands of people expected to converge on Miramar Naval Air Station to witness the fancy aerobatics.

The free event runs Saturday and Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and features the Navy’s Blue Angels. The exact time of their performance will depend on the weather.

Spectators can enter the base from gates on Miramar Way and Miramar Road. Parking is free. Gates open at 7 a.m. both days, and shuttles will take visitors from parking lots to the viewing area.

The gate on Kearny Villa Road will be open to buses, as well as bleacher and box-seat ticket holders. Those tickets, which cost $6 and $12, respectively, are available through TicketMaster and the Miramar ticket office.

From Interstate 5, take the La Jolla Village Drive exit and go east. The road becomes Miramar Road when it crosses I-805, and passes the base.

If driving south on I-15, take the Miramar Road exit and go west. If driving north on I-15, take the Miramar Way exit.

Glass containers and barbecue grills are prohibited, but food and beverages, including alcohol, are allowed. Visitors can bring beach chairs, blankets and cameras, but are asked to leave skateboards, pets and babies at home.
