Readers Split on Bar Assn. Abortion Vote

Re: “A Legal Divide” (July 19): Both the American Bar Assn. and the Los Angeles County Bar Assn. recently endorsed a woman’s right to have an abortion.

Though I am personally in favor of a woman’s right to have an abortion, I do not think it is wise or prudent for a professional organization to take a stand on it one way or the other, particularly since it is such an explosive issue (and) will only act as a divisive force and split its membership.

Some things are best left alone.
